know the regulations
why a regulation?
The fishing activity is practiced in natural environments intended for fish populations that are often wild. Fishing regulations are therefore there to ensure the sustainability of these fish resources in time. It supervises, manages and organizes the practice of recreational fishing for all.
It is more exactly the environmental code which details precisely the possibilities. It provides the regulatory basis for fishermen by indicating many rights but also Homeworks .
To be in order, it is therefore COMPULSORY:
- A valid fishing permit
- Respect the rules of the Environmental Code

The main principles
1
Fish category
To respect the species characteristics according to their living environment by opening periods and adapted regulations
2
Closed period
To guarantee a quiet period during reproduction sensitive species, especially for trout and predators
3
minimum capture size
To guarantee the population renewal by a possibility of sampling from subjects that have reproduced at least once
4
quotas
For limit withdrawals from sensitive species
5
fishing reserves
For create zones of tranquility , strengthen free movement fish or protect breeding areas

Temporary and exceptional closures
The hill reservoirs located in the east and south-east of the Landes are intended to support low water levels and compensate for withdrawals (mainly agricultural).
Subject to strong functional variations in levels, these artificial bodies of water have also been impacted for several years by very low precipitation summer / fall as well as by the proliferation of a bacterium that fixes nitrogen in the air and can be toxic if swallowed: Cyanobacteria.
Thus the practice of fishing or navigation may be temporarily prohibited by the owners of these structures.
See the news opposite for updates on the temporary opening and closing periods.
Temporary closures on hill reservoirs MAJ 15-10-21
The practice of fishing or navigation may be temporarily prohibited by the owners of these structures for the following reasons: CYANOBACTERIA: During occasional episodes of proliferation of Cyanobacteria, the owners of water bodies request, among other things, the...

Eel catch books

Regulatory evolution
Following the collapse of stocks (since the 1980s), an eel management plan was put in place on a European scale. The regulation of its fishing has therefore evolved considerably by:
- Total ban on silver eel fishing (migrant stage)
- Restricting the duration of yellow eel fishing (resident stage)
- The obligation to record its catches
Thus any eel fisherman must be in possession of a duly completed census book in the event of capture.
